Newsletter – December 17th

Hello OLR families,

Lots to review since I forgot to do a newsletter for last week!  Today, we celebrated the 3rd week of Advent and encouraged all our students to make sure they recognize the 4th and final week on their own since it will begin while we are on break.  Also taking place today was a visit from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s band who came and played Christmas songs for the entire school. We also celebrated the following middle school students for being recognized as the December student of the month during the Leadership Assembly:

Cameron Goodman – 6th grade

Lourdes Kalasho – 6th grade

Aleena Mona – 6th grade

Bella Hesano – 6th grade

Ronnie Yaldoo – 7th grade

Ryan Lucia – 7th grade

Sagel Yono – 8th grade

Taylor Doughty – 8th grade

Matthew Aziz – 8th grade

Ashley Lucia – 8th grade

In addition, we shared all the toys and monetary donations with the U.S Marine Corp Toys for Tots representative during the same assembly (see picture below).  Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than us.

Another big thank you to Ms. Mazich and Ms. Zazaian for all their hard work on helping produce our wonderful Christmas performances the past 2 weeks!  Additional thanks to all the parents who worked so hard to make our Secret Santa Shop a huge success last Friday, as well as to Julian Riveria from St. Mary’s who came over as Saint Nick and delivered treats to all our students.

Lastly, if we don’t see you before the half day on Thursday, best wishes for the merriest Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year as we ring out 2018 and enter 2019 with hopes for an even better one ahead!  See you back here on January 3rd!!

Toys for Tots

The 3rd graders sponsored our Mission Jean Day for December. OLR celebrated the season of giving by donating to Toys For Tots.

Merry Christmas!

This week, our 3rd-8th grades will be attending Reconciliation with Father McEnhill, make sure to ask them about the experience.  We also kicked off the beginning of the new Liturgical year with Mrs. Degan, our Director of Religious Education, lighting the first candle of our Advent wreath this morning.

Remember, there is a Dads’ Club meeting on 12/4 at 7 PM in the Social Hall, and this Thursday will be our K-5 Christmas performances in the Performing Arts Center, make sure to check with your child regarding details for their specific time.

Have a wonderful week!
