Spanish Fun!

OLR students know the importance and fun in learning a new language! Second and third grade students enjoyed learning about El Dia de Los Muertos while fourth graders taught our lovely kindergartners new vocabulary words. They enjoyed spending time together and leading the younger children to be Spanish superstars!

Think Differently!

One of the many wonderful things about OLR is that we participate in various activities with different grade levels.  Each grade has another grade that we pair up with, get to know and have fun with!  These “buddies” love seeing familiar faces in the hallways from different classes.  The third graders and fifth graders paired up recently and did some research in our media center about historical leaders who “think differently”.  Among some of those leaders that think outside of the box were Albert Einstein, Jane Goodall, James Watson and Amelia Earhart and Gandhi just to name a few.  The third graders loved learning more about these leaders and how to find out more about them from the fifth graders.  And the fifth graders loved showing off their research skills!  Learning to “think different” is so much fun!

Halloween 2016

What a fun, spooky time we had at OLR over the last few days!  We started with the trunk or treat celebration on Friday.  The cars and costumes looked awesome!  On Halloween we celebrated with pumpkin math and decorating, classroom celebrations and a spectacular costume parade.  Happy Halloween!!
