Part Time Lunch/Recess Supervisor Needed

OLR SCHOOL NEEDS A PART TIME LUNCH/RECESS SUPERVISOR • Provide support to individual children or groups of children at recess • Assist in organizing the learning environment, equipment and materials • Playground/luncheon supervision • Ability to walk long distances • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time • Perform any other duties as assigned by the assistant principal and principal

Gavin Pozdol, 2019 Graduate

We are so proud of our recent alumni, Gavin Pozdol! Gavin is a freshman at St. Mary’s Preparatory. While quarantining with his family due to the recent events, he came up with a creative way to get his service hours and help healthcare professionals who are battling Covid-19. He began using his 3D printer to create 3D mask holders for Beaumont Hospital! Gavin, OLR is so impressed with you and all of your good works!

Hans Muer, 1979 Graduate

Hans graduated from Andover High School and then went on to Western Michigan University to obtain his Master’s Degree. During his career, he served as a Music Educator at Our Lady of Refuge! We love it when our alumni come full circle and are able to contribute to the development of our current students.

Michael Denha, 2011 Graduate

Michael Denha graduated from OLR in 2011 and then attended Brother Rice High School. Michael went on to get a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University and is currently in law school . It’s great to see another Raven alumni doing well!

Candace Castiglione (Knight), 1997 Graduate

Candace Castiglione (Knight) is a 1997 graduate of OLR. She went on to Our Lady of the Lakes for high school and then to Western Michigan University where she received a Masters Degree. Candace is currently the Dean of Admissions at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory.

School Spotlight – November 19th

On Tuesday Nov. 7th, Our Lady of Refuge students and staff celebrated vocations week with a “vocations day” of our own. Brother Brenton and Brother Igor came from St. Bonaventure Monastery in Detroit to share their vocation stories and tell us about life as Capuchin (Cap-Uh-Shin) Franciscan Brothers.

School Spotlight – November 5th

Our Eighth graders spent a day on retreat at Subiaco learning about their faith journey with Christ. The students worked with the Benedictine monks through different personal growth activities and celebrated Mass together. They also had the opportunity to walk the beautiful grounds of the retreat center and grow as an eighth grade community.

Our school is very blessed to have teachers recognized during the A.O.D. annual Prep Bowl at Ford Field. Congratulations to Ms. Paige Leo/Preschool teacher (5 years), Ms. Hanna Parker/Middle School Social Studies teacher (5 years), Ms. Jessica Tahmouch/First Grade teacher (10 years), and Mrs. Bridgette Gumma (10 years) for your service and dedication to Catholic Education with the Archdiocese of Detroit. We are so blessed to have these experienced teachers working with our students at Our Lady of Refuge.
