The OLR school community celebrated Catholic Schools Week and launched the 2014 theme – Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service. In spite of frigid temperatures, the week was observed with two Open Houses, Teacher Appreciation Day, Mass at OLR for all students and at Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament for Student Leadership representatives. In the midst of serious thought about Catholic schools, there were also fun, student choice activities such as Wacky Hat Day, Crazy Hair Day and Game Day.
Catholic Schools Week began in 1974 as a celebration of Catholic Education in the United States and is a joint project of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The focus of CSW is on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.
