On Halloween, the parents, teachers and upper grade students received a special treat. The Pre-K through Third Grade students, with a little help from The Cat in the Hat and Things One, Two, Three, Four, and Five, put on a Halloween Parade. Dressed up in their Halloween finery, they strolled and strutted and danced their way around the gym to The Monster Mash, cheered on by their audience. The parade was a roll call of action heroes and Disney princesses with a sprinkling of storybook characters, ghosts and goblins.
On Friday, the saints came marching in. Students were dressed as saints for the All Saints’ Day liturgy. They processed into church to the strains of When the Saints Go Marching In. The music was performed by Sixth and Seventh Grade band students under the direction of the music teacher, Ms. Mazich. Not only did they perform an instrumental accompaniment for the march, they also burst into a harmonized vocal rendition of the song. Following Mass, the popes, bishops, martyrs and other well-known saints attended classes and specials. Some Fifth Grade saints were heard to question the purpose of the strange devices they encountered in computer class.
